Job Description

Job Title: Solutions Architect, Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences (Principal or Director Level). Location: US Remote, United States

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical leader for assigned strategic pharmaceutical and life sciences accounts, partnering with Strategic Account Executives on account planning, technical discovery, and solution development.
  • Help customers identify high-value applications for quantum computing across pharmaceutical and life sciences research and development workflows.
  • Apply knowledge of advanced analytics and AI, computational biology and omics, computational chemistry, computer-aided drug design, and model-informed clinical development;
  • Assess customer challenges and identify opportunities that may be suitable for near-term quantum computing approaches.
  • Work with customers and internal research teams to define project scopes aligned with technical capabilities, research strengths, and technology roadmaps.
  • Maintain a catalogue of industry-relevant quantum computing use cases to support customer engagement and internal research planning.
  • Support the development of customer-facing technical materials and proposal documents.
  • Provide market and customer feedback to research leaders to help align research roadmaps with industry needs.
  • Stay current with developments in quantum technology, quantum algorithms, relevant use cases, technical limitations, and technology roadmaps.
  • Build strong relationships with technical and business stakeholders across strategic customer accounts.
  • Partner with sales leaders while maintaining independent technical judgment;
  • Translate business objectives into appropriate technical approaches and project plans.
  • Manage multiple priorities and stakeholders across customer and internal projects.
  • Present technical concepts and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Director-Level Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Solutions Architecture team.
  • Coach team members and manage their performance and professional development.
  • Allocate resources across the Solutions Architecture portfolio.
  • Establish technical best practices and operating processes for the function.
  • Oversee technical quality, portfolio visibility, and prioritization across the broader Solutions Architecture organization.
  • Continue contributing directly to strategic customer engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computational life sciences, physics, computer science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience working in industrial research programs within the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and life sciences computational research and development.
  • Ability to understand customer challenges and translate them into technically appropriate quantum computing opportunities.
  • Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities;
  • For Director-level positions, experience leading technical teams or managing direct reports in a customer-facing or applied research environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by the applicable contractual requirements, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents or green card holders, and workers granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.

Preferred:

  • PhD in life sciences, physics, mathematics, or a related STEM field.
  • Experience working with or exposure to quantum technologies.
  • Significant experience managing customer relationships and delivering technically complex projects.
  • Experience partnering with sales organizations while maintaining independent technical judgment.
  • Strong ability to translate business objectives into technical execution;
  • Executive-level communication skills.
  • Strong ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Annual compensation range of $180,000 to $250,000.
  • Compensation range includes the bonus target where applicable.
