Job Title: Sr. Technical Engagement Manager, U.S. Government Programs. Location: United States
Responsibilities:
- Lead the full lifecycle of U.S. government-funded research programs, from identifying funding opportunities through proposal submission, award management, and successful project execution.
- Manage active government grants by coordinating with principal investigators and technical teams to ensure milestones, reports, and deliverables are completed on schedule;
- Collaborate with hardware, software, algorithms, legal, and finance teams to develop technically strong, strategically competitive, and compliant proposals.
- Lead proposal development activities, including grant writing, technical editing, teaming arrangements, and submission management.
- Build and maintain relationships with U.S. government program managers, prime contractors, national laboratories, and strategic partners.
- Monitor emerging government funding opportunities aligned with Xanadu's research roadmap in fault-tolerant quantum computing, photonic hardware, and quantum algorithms.
- Brief company leadership on relevant government funding programs and strategic opportunities;
- Represent Xanadu at conferences, government meetings, and community events to develop partnerships and generate new business opportunities.
- Bridge technical capabilities with government research priorities to support long-term strategic growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in a government-facing technical or program management role.
- Proven experience writing, reviewing, or managing proposals for U.S. government funding programs.
- Demonstrated success identifying, winning, or managing government-funded research programs or contracts;
- Strong understanding of U.S. government contracting, grants administration, compliance requirements, cost accounting standards, and reporting obligations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling proposal narratives.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Preferred:
- Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Familiarity with quantum computing, photonics, superconducting systems, or other deep technology fields.
- Existing relationships with program managers at DARPA, the Department of Energy (DoE), or U.S. national laboratories.
- Experience working in a startup or high-growth technology company;
- Knowledge of U.S. public policy related to emerging technologies, including congressional affairs, federal science priorities, and government budgeting processes.
- Active U.S. security clearance (Secret or higher), or eligibility to obtain one.
