Job Title: Fabrication Equipment Engineer, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA
Job Type: Full-Time, Entry Level (Senior-leaning industrial role), Onsite
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of semiconductor fabrication equipment to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and perform root-cause failure analysis on complex fabrication tools.
- Manage installation, retrofits, upgrades, and qualification of new manufacturing equipment for quantum device production.
- Evaluate, scope, and support procurement of fabrication tools aligned with quantum manufacturing requirements.
- Act as primary technical liaison with external vendors to ensure successful equipment deployment and integration.
- Analyze equipment reliability data to improve maintenance scheduling and overall tool availability;
- Support operations across multiple facilities, ensuring consistent equipment standards and workflow alignment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for fabrication system performance and reliability.
- Ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and compliance with cleanroom operational standards.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing semiconductor fabrication equipment.
- 5+ years of experience with photolithography, vacuum systems, plasma tools, or packaging equipment.
- 5+ years of experience working with hazardous chemicals and electrical systems in manufacturing environments.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot vacuum, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and software systems down to component level.
- Experience reading complex schematics including electrical, pneumatic, and P&ID diagrams;
- Ability to perform component-level repairs on electronics, robotics, and vacuum subsystems.
- Experience working in cleanroom environments with full PPE.
Preferred:
- Experience with electro-mechanical measurement tools (oscilloscopes, signal generators, calipers, etc.).
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as KiCad, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
- Experience with etch systems (ICP, RIE) and deposition systems (PVD, evaporation);
- Knowledge of high-vacuum systems, RF power supplies, and toxic gas delivery systems.
- Proven experience managing equipment installation projects, including vendor coordination, FAT/SAT testing, and facility integration.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Competitive base salary: $159,000 to $231,000 per year.
- Bonus and equity eligibility (not included in base salary range).
