Job Description
Job Title: Senior Photonic Test Development Engineer. Location: Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Responsibilities:
- Design, upgrade, and expand optical testing infrastructure for characterizing classical and quantum integrated photonics devices and components at both chip and wafer levels.
- Perform characterization using both room-temperature and cryogenic optical test setups.
- Develop, document, and maintain robust testing procedures for component-level characterization.
- Automate the complete test pipeline, including instrument configuration, data acquisition, data processing, and analysis.
- Develop scalable, reliable, and well-tested characterization workflows;
- Collaborate with design, packaging, and system engineering teams to improve testing capabilities.
- Develop and maintain a library of standardized optical test flows to enhance platform performance.
- Support the development and optimization of testing infrastructure for next-generation quantum photonic systems.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in optical spectroscopy or a related field.
- Experience with optical test instrumentation for room-temperature testing.
- Strong data processing, visualization, and organizational skills;
- Familiarity with free-space optics and optical imaging systems.
- Experience working with laser sources and fiber optic components.
- Programming experience using Python, MATLAB, or another general-purpose programming language for test automation.
Preferred:
- 5+ years of experience designing and characterizing classical integrated photonics devices.
- Hands-on experience with cryogenic optical testing systems.
- Experience characterizing integrated photonics devices.
- Experience developing advanced automated optical testing workflows.

- Travel required: Less than 10%.
