Job Title: Photonics Packaging Engineer. Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States

In this role, you will work closely with scientists and engineers to design, test, and optimize low-loss fiber-to-chip interfaces and optical packaging processes; Your work will directly contribute to producing scalable, high-performance quantum devices.

Responsibilities:

• Perform fiber coupling measurements to validate photonic device performance
• Develop, optimize, and scale fiber packaging processes with a focus on yield and throughput
• Collaborate with internal test and measurement teams to benchmark packaged quantum devices in cryogenic environments
• Design, test, and improve low-loss fiber-to-chip interfaces;
• Support optical packaging processes for deployable quantum hardware
• Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors to enable process scaling

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related field
• At least 3 years of industry experience working with active alignment systems, fiber optics, and integrated photonic devices
• Hands-on experience with nanofabrication and optical packaging tasks

Preferred:

• Experience developing fiber packaging processes and fiber alignment techniques
• Experience with photonic design and optical adhesives
• Experience working with automated assembly systems;
• Experience designing and using optical testing infrastructure
• Knowledge of fabrication processes and design constraints for nanostructures
• Experience with cryogenic testing and operation
• Familiarity with nanophotonic device modeling and CAD software

• Base salary range: USD 110,336 to 144,459 per year
