Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Security Lead. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States
The position is based in the United States and reports to the T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a security team focused on protecting quantum and hybrid cloud systems.
- Build and maintain secure cloud and on-prem architectures.
- Run risk management, threat modelling, and network security work;
- Oversee compliance with internal policies, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Manage secure development lifecycle practices, including code reviews and security testing.
- Handle vulnerability management and guide the team on fixing risks.
- Lead incident investigations, response, and post-incident analysis.
- Manage data privacy, encryption, and identity and access management;
- Set security policies for the quantum group and work closely with the CISO team.
- Coordinate tasks across the security team, guide technical direction, and ensure milestones are met.
- Work with development, operations, and other internal groups to embed security into the full product lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 5 years of experience in software security, network security, ethical hacking, cybersecurity, identity and access management, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of network security, application security, IAM, data encryption, vulnerability management, threat modelling, privacy, and incident response.
- Hands-on work with security tools for monitoring, logging, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, IDS, and firewall management;
- Skilled in cloud security, cloud storage, network setups, container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and cloud-based identity systems.
- Experience working in DevSecOps or secure software development lifecycle environments;
- Ability to lead incident response and forensic analysis after security events.
- Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and explain risks to technical and non-technical groups.
Preferred:
- Experience with security needs in quantum computing environments.
- Familiarity with IBM QRadar.
- Experience securing IBM Cloud environments;
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, FEDRAMP, and industry-specific regulations.
