Job Description
Job Title: Senior Quantum Software Engineer. Location: New Haven, CT, USA
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and engineers to translate functional requirements into technical specifications and deliverables.
- Architect and develop efficient, reliable, and maintainable backend systems.
- Design and build tooling and core software for calibration, protocol development, experimentation, and automation of quantum processor operations.
- Integrate protocols developed by physicists into core software platforms and system automation.
- Write clean, well-documented code and conduct code reviews to ensure quality and maintainability;
- Troubleshoot and debug software issues, identify bottlenecks, and optimize performance.
- Improve user experience through system enhancements and optimizations.
- Mentor and guide junior quantum software engineers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of hands-on software development experience.
- Strong experience with Python.
- Experience with debugging, profiling, and performance optimization tools.
- Background in scientific computing, data analytics, quantum physics, or quantum computing.
- Proficiency with Git version control;
- Experience with software testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred:
- Experience working closely with physicists or interdisciplinary research teams.
- Familiarity with quantum computing systems, calibration workflows, or quantum processor operations.

- Salary range: $124,360 – $186,540 per year (based on experience and level).
