Scientist, Gate Design and Measurement

Job Description

Job Title: Research Scientist, Gate Design and Measurement, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and characterize limiting error mechanisms in quantum logic gates.
  • Perform precise error benchmarking to analyze noise processes in quantum circuits.
  • Design and implement improved error-metrology circuits for quantum hardware.
  • Collaborate with theory teams to develop and validate physics-based noise and error models.
  • Conduct detailed superconducting circuit analysis and simulation studies;
  • Define hardware requirements for next-generation gate designs and scalable architectures.
  • Develop internal software tools and infrastructure to support quantum research workflows.
  • Analyze experimental data and correlate results with theoretical models.
  • Contribute to the development of forward-looking quantum computing architectures.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience collecting and analyzing experimental data.
  • Strong programming and statistical analysis skills.
  • Experience in hardware characterization and calibration techniques.

Preferred:

  • At least 2 years of Python programming experience.
  • Strong understanding of circuit theory;
  • Experience in superconducting quantum computing systems.
  • Experience in circuit modeling and multi-qubit quantum platforms.
  • Familiarity with quantum error processes and benchmarking methods.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $147,000 to $211,000 annually (location and experience dependent).
  • Additional compensation may include bonus and equity.
