Scientist Manager, Neutral Atoms

Job Description

Job Title: Staff Research Scientist Manager, Neutral Atoms, Quantum AI. Location: Boulder, CO, USA

Job Type: Research Fellowship, Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of hardware systems for a neutral-atom quantum computing platform.
  • Develop and oversee large-scale experimental setups for neutral-atom quantum processors.
  • Design error-aware and fault-tolerant quantum computing architectures in collaboration with quantum error correction researchers.
  • Build and refine accurate error models for neutral-atom quantum operations based on hardware studies.
  • Translate theoretical quantum concepts into practical experimental implementations;
  • Lead research direction and manage technical execution across a quantum hardware team.
  • Publish and present research findings in academic and industry venues.
  • Collaborate closely with theorists, experimental physicists, and quantum engineers to advance scalable quantum computing systems.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing a technical team.
  • Demonstrated publication record in quantum computing or related fields.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience leading a research program.
  • Experience with optical and mechanical design tools;
  • Strong background in building neutral atom experimental systems.
  • Experience collaborating with theoretical physicists and research teams.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $207,000 to $300,000 per year.
  • Additional compensation includes bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits package.
