Job Title: Senior Quantum Software Engineer. Location: Redmond, Washington, USA
Job Type: Full-Time, Senior Level (Individual Contributor), Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver fast, reliable, and secure software components in Rust, Python, and TypeScript for quantum developer tools.
- Build and enhance quantum programming languages and compiler features for Q#, OpenQASM, QIR, and related systems.
- Develop and improve VS Code integrations for quantum software development workflows;
- Explore and integrate advanced AI capabilities into quantum development tools and pipelines.
- Collaborate with experts in quantum chemistry, error correction, control systems, and hardware teams to build end-to-end solutions.
- Contribute to open-source projects, including issue triaging and code improvements.
- Support the development of simulators, debuggers, profilers, and visualization tools for quantum computing.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Physics, Engineering, or related field with 1+ year of experience
OR - Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience
OR - Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in research or industrial software development environment
- Ability to pass Microsoft security screening requirements
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments (export control compliance)
Preferred:
- Doctorate or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
- 3+ years experience in software development involving compilers, simulators, or scientific computing systems
- Experience with Rust, Python, or web technologies (HTML/CSS);
- Strong understanding of quantum computing fundamentals and linear algebra
- Familiarity with quantum SDKs (QDK, Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, CUDA-Q)
- Experience with GPU programming
- Knowledge of LLVM or compiler infrastructure
- Experience building large-scale, multi-component software systems
- Strong collaboration and open-source contribution experience
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary range:
- USD 119,800 to 234,700 per year (standard U.S. range)
- Up to USD 261,000 in high-cost regions (San Francisco, NYC)
