Job Title: Senior Scientist, Quantum Compilation. Location: Los Angeles, California, USA

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Hybrid

Responsibilities:

  • Develop efficient and reliable methods that address key challenges in real-world quantum computing systems.
  • Design and implement advanced quantum compilation techniques, including quantum circuit compilation, qubit routing, and layout selection.
  • Research and develop tools that improve the performance of quantum algorithms and applications.
  • Create software for optimizing quantum algorithms, quantum applications, and quantum error correction schemes;
  • Apply techniques from control theory, optimization, machine learning, computer science, and data analysis to quantum computing problems.
  • Stay informed about emerging developments in quantum computing and quantum control and integrate new methodologies into research projects.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to transform research concepts into production-quality software solutions.
  • Develop, test, and validate new algorithms using scientific computing frameworks and open-source tools.
  • Present technical findings to internal teams and external audiences in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
  • Collaborate with academic institutions, industry partners, and research organizations.
  • Utilize tools such as Qiskit, NumPy, NetworkX, SciPy, Scikit-learn, and PyTorch to build high-quality research software.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • PhD preferred, although exceptional candidates with significant industry experience will also be considered.
  • Expertise in quantum computing, quantum algorithms, or quantum control;
  • Strong experience in quantum circuit compilation, qubit routing, or layout optimization.
  • Demonstrated record of impactful research through publications, conference presentations, or equivalent contributions.
  • Experience developing scientific software using Python or other scientific programming languages such as Julia, MATLAB, or Mathematica.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with high-performance programming languages such as Rust, C++, or Julia.
  • Experience with GPUs, TPUs, or other hardware-accelerated computing platforms.
  • Strong background in control theory, optimization, machine learning, or data analysis.
  • Familiarity with quantum error suppression techniques, including:
    • Dynamical Decoupling
    • Readout Mitigation
    • Zero-Noise Extrapolation
    • Pauli Twirling
    • Pulse-Level Optimization
  • Experience executing quantum circuits using Qiskit.
  • Familiarity with Quantum Error Correction (QEC).
  • Exceptional scientific communication skills demonstrated through teaching, outreach, technical writing, presentations, or visualization development.
