Job Description
Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, Calibration, Automation & Tools. Location: New Haven, Connecticut, USA (Hybrid)
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software systems and tools for quantum processor calibration and operation.
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable web applications from concept through production.
- Build modern user interfaces using front-end frameworks.
- Design and implement reliable, maintainable back-end services and APIs;
- Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and software engineers to translate business and technical requirements into software solutions.
- Support automated calibration workflows for quantum processing units.
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain software quality and engineering standards.
- Troubleshoot software issues and optimize application performance.
- Improve user experience by identifying and resolving system bottlenecks;
- Mentor and support junior software engineers.
- Work with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in full-stack software development.
- Strong programming experience with Python.
- Experience with at least one additional programming language such as Java, Go, C, or C++.
- Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js;
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL, including PostgreSQL or Oracle.
- Experience designing and developing microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency with Git, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Knowledge of software testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with distributed systems.
- Experience with scientific computing applications.
- Experience with data streaming technologies.
- Experience with embedded systems.
- Experience with networking technologies;
- Experience with real-time control systems.
- Experience working with quantum computing systems or quantum processor calibration is an asset.
- Experience mentoring software engineers.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary of $125,000 to $187,000 USD per year (New Haven location).
