Software Engineer, Compute Infrastructure

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, Compute Infrastructure. Location: Berkeley, CA (Hybrid – Onsite 3+ days/week)

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure using Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and AWS
• Build hybrid architectures to connect external partners with Rigetti’s QPUs
• Work closely with quantum engineering and control systems teams to support platform integration;
• Improve internal processes and developer workflows through scalable infrastructure and best practices;
• Contribute to product development serving high-profile partners such as Fermilab, ORNL, DOE, Amazon Braket, and Microsoft Azure Quantum
• Promote a culture of reliability, clarity, and precision in code and infrastructure;
• Document and test production-level software with strong focus on automation

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience with production infrastructure in multiple environments
• Strong command of Kubernetes, cloud-native systems, and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Chef, Ansible, etc.)
• Expertise in AWS architecture and cloud services;
• Track record of delivering complex systems with reliability and security in mind;
• Effective communicator with experience in technical leadership and architectural planning;
• Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Physics (preferred)
• Familiarity with microservice design, SDK development, and quantum computing is a plus
