Job Description
Job Title: Assistant Controller. Location: Broomfield, CO or Brooklyn Park, MN
Hybrid work model with up to 2 remote days per week, subject to approval
This role works closely with the Senior Controller and CFO and plays a key role in financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and compliance; The position is based in either Broomfield, Colorado or Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet analysis
- Prepare financial reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP for internal and external use
- Assist in preparing and reviewing consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
- Support internal controls, SOX testing, and remediation activities;
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning with FP and A and business teams
- Analyze financial results and identify trends, risks, variances, and improvement opportunities
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation
- Mentor and guide junior accounting staff through hands-on leadership
- Coordinate with external auditors during audit planning and execution
- Collaborate with Tax, Treasury, Legal, and other teams on financial initiatives and system improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 8 years of experience in project accounting, cost accounting, fixed assets, and general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial close processes
- Experience with consolidated financial statements;
- Ability to work with ERP systems such as SAP S4 HANA, SAP ECC, or Oracle NetSuite
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience supervising or mentoring accounting professionals
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- SOX and internal control experience;
- Experience with government CAS ledger accounting and accounting information systems
- Audit experience, including Big 4 client or provider-side exposure
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Strong attention to accuracy, compliance, and transparency
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $137,000 to $171,000 per year
- Incentive eligible role, with bonus included in the posted range
- Final compensation based on experience, education, and qualifications
