Job Title: Associate Corporate Counsel, Quantum AI. Location: Mountain View, CA, USA; Los Angeles, CA, USA; San Francisco, CA, USA
Additional Location: Playa Vista, CA
Responsibilities:
- Provide solution-oriented legal advice to engineering teams across both quantum hardware and software, as well as product management, operations, and business development teams.
- Advise teams from the early stages of product research and development through product launch and beyond.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and international laws and regulations covering intellectual property, security, marketing, competition, privacy, and consumer protection.
- Partner with research teams, product teams, and IP counsel to develop and operationalize product and intellectual property strategies across the quantum hardware and software lifecycle;
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements involving industry and academic partnerships, supply chains, operations, and investments.
- Serve as a trusted legal partner to Quantum AI product, engineering, business, and cross-functional teams.
- Provide legal guidance on a broad portfolio of issues involving quantum computing products and services.
- Support the Google Quantum AI team as it develops scalable, useful, error-corrected quantum computing systems.
Qualifications:
- JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Admitted to the bar and in good standing, or otherwise authorized to practice law in the state where the position is located.
- At least 3 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department;
- Experience advising on areas such as science and technology, product liability, privacy, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, or computer hardware and software.
- Ability to work effectively with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
- Undergraduate or additional degree in a physical science or engineering field such as physics, electrical engineering, or materials science.
- Equivalent practical experience working closely with deep-tech research and development teams.
- Ability to build relationships and establish credibility with business leaders while finding practical, solution-oriented outcomes.
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment with limited direction;
- Strong ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple time-sensitive projects.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle a high volume of requests.
- Interest in addressing emerging legal issues related to artificial intelligence.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Salary range: $217,000 to $314,000 USD.
- 20% target bonus.
- Equity compensation.

- Individual compensation is determined based on job-related skills, experience, education, and training.
