Job Title: Buyer, Quantum Hardware, Center for Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, California, USA

Job Type: Full-time, Regular Employment

Responsibilities:

• Process and manage purchase orders, blanket purchase orders (BPOs), and credit card purchases, ensuring accurate financial coding.

• Onboard vendors and maintain supplier relationships, including risk assessments and payment setup.

• Negotiate and execute contracts, including mutual and nondisclosure agreements (M/NDAs), purchase and service agreements, software licensing agreements, and statements of work (SOWs).

• Request and evaluate vendor quotations and negotiate shipping and delivery terms.

• Coordinate domestic and international logistics, including freight and hazardous material shipments.

• Resolve invoice discrepancies, process payment requests, and verify tariffs;

• Manage product returns, rental equipment, and export compliance documentation.

• Track procurement requests, fulfill purchasing requirements, generate reports, and maintain accurate purchasing records.

• Collaborate with legal, finance, and export control teams to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Identify and implement process improvements, including opportunities to use AI tools.

• Work with internal and external development and engineering teams to support research programs.

• Define problems, lead cross-functional initiatives, and communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior executives.

• Help establish scalable procurement processes that support Amazon's quantum computing research and development activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree.

• Experience leading process improvements or implementing operational tools, such as digital asset management systems.

• Experience with procurement systems and financial applications.

• Experience creating metrics and presenting data.

• Demonstrated experience improving processes and scalability.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills;

• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work effectively in a fast-paced research and development environment.

• Experience with procurement of scientific equipment, laboratory supplies, testing equipment, capital assets, chemicals, heavy machinery, and vacuum systems is emphasized in the job description.

Preferred:

• Master's degree.

• Experience in research and development procurement.

• Experience managing complex supplier relationships and contract negotiations.

• Familiarity with import/export procedures, international logistics, and regulatory compliance.

• Experience identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement. AI fluency is an advantage.

Benefits and Compensation:

Base salary: $70,400 to $94,000 per year.

Final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location. The total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
