Job Description
Job Title: Control System Test Engineer I. Location: New Haven, CT, USA
Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, test, and improve Python-based hardware validation tests for microwave and RF control electronics.
- Develop and expand testing frameworks for control electronics systems.
- Perform and document system-level and subsystem-level testing of RF and microwave hardware.
- Use FPGA-based signal generation and acquisition tools for testing and validation;
- Assist in the assembly of complete RF control systems for quantum computers.
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot microwave RF subassemblies and modules.
- Document design processes, testing procedures, and prototyping workflows.
- Support development projects and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on control systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent experience.
- Strong Python programming skills and willingness to learn RF engineering concepts.
- Experience using microwave test equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related tools.
- Experience with assembly and testing of microwave subassemblies;
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative engineering environment.
Preferred:
- Advanced Python skills, including data analysis and computational physics.
- Experience with FPGA-based SDR and DSP systems.
- Experience with test automation using microwave test equipment.
- Background in RF or radar system assembly and production;
- Experience with electrical circuit and system design (RF and DC).
- PCB layout experience using tools such as Altium.
- Exposure to simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS, SIwave, IcePak, and Keysight ADS or SystemVue.
- Interest in hands-on technical projects such as electronics or mechanical systems.

- Base salary range: $67,120 to $100,680 USD (based on experience and level).
