Job Description

Position Title: Staff Engineer – Quantum Networking. Location: Bothell, Washington, United States

Responsibilities:

• Lead the architecture and development of quantum networking systems to enable the interconnection of trapped-ion quantum computers.
• Drive subsystem development for next-generation trapped-ion quantum computing platforms;
• Define software and control system requirements critical to quantum networking integration;
• Conduct data measurement and performance analysis of quantum systems, focusing on coherent gate operations.
• Provide technical mentorship to physicists and engineers, guiding hardware development from ion trapping to operational quantum gates.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Physics or Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) physics or quantum information.
• At least 5 years of postdoctoral experience in industry or national labs;
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred:

• 7+ years of experience in industry or national labs.
• Background in quantum networking, including experience with quantum frequency conversion, quantum repeaters, and photonic switching systems.
• Proficiency in RF trap waveform development for ion shuttling;
• Demonstrated systems engineering experience in transforming complex physical systems into scalable products.
