Full Stack Software Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Full Stack Software Engineer – IBM Quantum. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement high performance, scalable Python code for compute-intensive applications.
  • Analyze, refactor, and optimize large and complex existing Python codebases.
  • Develop and evaluate efficient algorithms and data structures;
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in CPU, memory, and I/O systems.
  • Use profiling, benchmarking, and debugging tools to guide performance improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and researchers on performance-critical components.
  • Ensure code quality, maintainability, and testability while promoting best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong experience in performance-oriented Python programming;
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
  • Experience working with large, legacy, or long-lived codebases.
  • Familiarity with systems-level programming including C, C++, or Rust integrations.

Preferred:

  • Experience with numerical computing or data-intensive systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with profiling and benchmarking tools (cProfile, line_profiler).
  • Experience with low-level optimization tools (NumPy, Numba, Cython).
  • Knowledge of parallelism and concurrency (multiprocessing, multithreading, async programming).

  • Annual salary range: $131,000 to $226,000 depending on skills and experience.
