Integration Architect – Electronics

Job Description

Job Title: Lead Hardware Integration Architect – Electronics. Location: Bothell, WA (Hybrid)

We are seeking a Lead Hardware Integration Architect to design, integrate, and deliver cutting-edge quantum computing hardware; This role combines electronics engineering expertise with technical program leadership, guiding projects from concept to deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, manufacturing, commissioning, and maintenance of quantum computers with a focus on speed-to-market.
  • Apply electronics industry experience to bring PCBAs, modules, and subsystems from concept to customer delivery.
  • Break down experimental hardware into modular components for manufacturing and serviceability.
  • Conduct technical reviews for hardware releases and ensure readiness before sign-off;
  • Train teams on “Design for Excellence” principles (DfT, DfM, DFSC, Design-for-Serviceability).
  • Oversee electronics manufacturing processes including PCB fabrication, testing, AOI, AXI, JTAG, ICT, and functional testing.
  • Collaborate with physicists, engineers, and technologists to resolve architecture challenges.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in NPI (New Product Introduction) processes;
  • Lead manufacturing ramp-up when demand increases.
  • Ensure systems meet short-, medium-, and long-term trapped-ion quantum computing goals.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years in new product development for advanced electronics.
  • Hands-on experience in hardware design or electronics manufacturing process engineering.
  • Experience delivering first-of-a-kind R&D projects to production.
  • Knowledge of high-mix, low-volume manufacturing;
  • Strong program management and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer engagement experience.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10%).

Preferred:

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
  • 12+ years in electronics design and manufacturing.
  • Start-up and technical program management experience.
  • Experience with trapped-ion systems, photonics, or quantum computing;
  • Familiarity with USG contracts, FAR/DFARS regulations, and systems engineering processes.
  • Supply chain management and global system deployment experience.
  • Data-driven decision-making culture leadership.
