Job Title: Senior Research Scientist, Josephson Analog Electronics, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA
Job Type: Full-Time, Research (Senior Level, Onsite/Hybrid depending on team)
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end development of superconducting analog quantum circuits from concept to integration.
- Design, simulate, layout, and test superconducting 3-wave and 4-wave mixing devices.
- Develop mixers, switches, and parametric converters for qubit readout and control;
- Conduct experimental design and measurement for qubit systems and superconducting devices.
- Collaborate with teams across processor design, device modeling, theory, fabrication, and metrology.
- Debug hardware and software issues in microwave control and quantum measurement systems.
- Perform qubit bring-up, calibration, control, and metrology tasks;
- Contribute to innovation in superconducting device architectures such as SQUIDs, nanowires, and related systems.
- Take ownership of research projects from initial idea to experimental validation and deployment.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 2 years of experience with quantum systems, superconducting detectors, or related technologies.
- Experience in laboratory or research environments (academic, government, or industry);
- Proficiency in programming (Python, C, MATLAB, or similar).
- Strong background in microwave engineering, circuit design, EM simulation, and test-and-measurement tools.
Preferred:
- Experience with superconducting quantum devices such as JRM, SNAIL, LINC, ATS, or nTron systems.
- Hands-on laboratory experience in quantum or cryogenic systems.
- Proven ability to lead research projects as an individual contributor;
- Strong expertise in microwave passive components including filters, multiplexers, impedance matching, and coupling structures.
- Experience with EM simulation and innovative microwave circuit design.
- Ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software in quantum measurement systems.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary range: $174,000 to $252,000 annually (plus bonus, equity, and benefits).
