Quantum Hardware Engineer, Device

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Hardware Engineer, Center for Quantum Computing (Device Team). Location: Pasadena, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to hardware development within a multi-disciplinary quantum computing team including physicists, engineers, and materials scientists.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to support accelerated learning initiatives.
  • Execute scientific measurements under established testing standards with high precision.
  • Build, run, and debug automated measurement sequences.
  • Streamline system integration processes and improve throughput;
  • Maintain and operate laboratory instruments independently.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and detailed technical documentation.
  • Support optimization of experimental workflows and hardware performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or R.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with measurement tools and devices such as oscilloscopes and frequency analyzers.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Experience working with cryogenic systems.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Salary range: $122,600 – $160,000 annually (based on experience, qualifications, and location).
  • Additional compensation includes sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs).
