Job Title: Intern, Quantum Algorithms and Compilation. Location: Palo Alto, California, USA (Remote option available)
Job Type: Internship
Responsibilities:
- Develop quantum algorithms targeting real-world applications in chemistry, drug design, materials science, and fluid dynamics.
- Optimize key subroutines used in fault tolerant quantum algorithms.
- Work on compilation of quantum algorithms into logical gate sets.
- Apply architecture-aware optimizations to improve quantum circuit performance.
- Estimate quantum resources required for scalable quantum computation;
- Collaborate with research and software teams on algorithm design and implementation.
- Contribute to improvements in quantum compilation workflows and performance efficiency.
- Support research discussions around fault tolerant quantum computing systems.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a postgraduate degree in Quantum Computing, Quantum Algorithms, Quantum Compilation, Fault Tolerance, or related field.
- Experience with Python programming;
- Familiarity with collaborative development tools such as Git.
- Strong problem-solving ability and creative thinking approach.
- Ability to work effectively in collaborative research environments.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in fault tolerant quantum algorithms or quantum compilation.
- Exposure to quantum circuit design and optimization techniques.
- Understanding of quantum resource estimation methods;
- Background in applied quantum computing domains such as chemistry or materials science applications.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Hourly pay ranges from $27.50 to $47.00 depending on education level.
