Job Title: Manager, Software Development, Center for Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, California, United States
Job Type: Full-time, Leadership (Software Development Manager)
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a high-performing software engineering team within the Center for Quantum Computing.
- Define technical direction and architecture for software systems supporting quantum device fabrication.
- Oversee development of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software, ML-based inspection systems, and research tools.
- Collaborate closely with scientists, hardware engineers, process engineers, and program managers;
- Translate scientific and engineering requirements into scalable software solutions and system designs.
- Make strategic design decisions and participate in architecture, code reviews, and system planning.
- Drive ML-based initiatives for automated optical inspection of wafer defects.
- Lead development of LLM-powered tools for querying, analyzing, and visualizing fabrication data;
- Build software infrastructure that supports scaling quantum hardware manufacturing workflows.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience as a software engineer, developer, or related role.
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience;
- 5+ years of experience in system design and architecture (scalability, reliability, design patterns).
- Strong understanding of full software development lifecycle including coding standards, testing, deployment, and operations.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and product or program management.
Preferred:
- 5+ years of engineering leadership experience.
- Experience managing full software development lifecycle in production environments.
- Experience working on ML systems, inspection systems, or data-driven industrial applications.
- Familiarity with quantum hardware fabrication workflows or scientific computing environments.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Salary range: 184,900 to 250,200 USD annually (Pasadena, CA).
