Job Title: Metrology and Data Analytics Engineer. Location: United States
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and optimize inline metrology workflows for monitoring critical materials and device parameters across photonic and semiconductor fabrication platforms.
- Improve metrology protocols to achieve higher measurement accuracy and characterize challenging device features.
- Build, monitor, and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts to identify process variation, classify outliers, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions;
- Deliver metrology and data analysis solutions that improve manufacturing yield, wafer performance, and production efficiency.
- Collaborate with software development and data analytics teams to improve data quality and support quantitative modeling and decision-making.
- Design experiments for evaluating metrology tools and identify new techniques that accelerate process development.
- Develop innovative approaches for metrology and failure analysis;
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in semiconductor and photonic metrology.
- Coordinate with semiconductor foundries, photonics foundries, external metrology laboratories, and equipment vendors.
- Support evaluation, selection, procurement, and qualification of new metrology tools.
- Travel as required, up to approximately 25%.
Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Nanoengineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience developing inline metrology workflows for photonics or semiconductor fabrication.
- Experience working in semiconductor or photonics foundry environments, including Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Strong experience with semiconductor and photonics metrology and failure analysis techniques, including technologies such as:
- XPS
- Overlay
- OCD
- SEM
- TEM
- AFM
- Defect inspection
- Ellipsometry
- XRR/XRD
- SIMS
- Raman spectroscopy
- Experience with statistical analysis and programming using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated experience developing innovative metrology methods for integrated photonics or semiconductor manufacturing.
- Experience collaborating with external foundries, laboratories, and equipment vendors.
- Experience evaluating and purchasing metrology equipment;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- Six or more years of experience developing inline metrology workflows.
- Experience characterizing multiple material systems, including silicon, dielectric materials, crystalline electro-optic materials, and III-V materials.
- Experience developing metrology solutions for ultra-low-loss photonic components.
- Experience owning and operating metrology and characterization equipment;
- Previous experience working in fabless semiconductor companies.
- Experience with material management systems.
