Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Engineer, Quantum Integrated Circuit Design and Simulation Automation. Location: Berkeley, CA

Your expertise in computational electromagnetics, software engineering, and high-performance computing will help model large-scale quantum processors & accelerate Rigetti’s path toward 1000-qubit systems and beyond.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement robust software infrastructure to automate quantum circuit design and simulation workflows.
• Integrate and optimize classical electromagnetic simulations and quantum Hamiltonian modeling.
• Adapt simulations for high-performance compute clusters, including GPU acceleration;
• Build and refine optimization routines that enhance circuit performance across parameters such as loss and crosstalk.
• Collaborate with design and simulation engineers to streamline processes and improve modeling accuracy;
• Contribute to next-generation quantum processor architecture through advanced computational modeling.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in computational electromagnetics and numerical methods;
• Experience with simulation tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, or CST Microwave Studio.
• Proficiency in Python for scientific and engineering applications.
• Background in high-performance computing and optimization techniques;
• Understanding of circuit quantum electrodynamics and quantum device modeling.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to Have:

• Prior experience in a technical role in industry or startup settings.
• Knowledge of radio-frequency engineering, superconducting physics, Josephson junctions, or integrated circuit design.
• Familiarity with superconducting qubits and microwave circuit modeling.

• Salary Range: $170,000–$205,000 annually (final offer based on experience, skills, and location).
