Job Description

Job Title: Research Intern, PhD, Summer 2026. Job Type: Internship (Full-time, 12–14 weeks). Location: Multiple US locations: Mountain View, CA; Atlanta, GA; Austin, TX; Boulder, CO; Cambridge, MA; Bellevue, WA; Chicago, IL; Irvine, CA; Kirkland, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Madison, WI; New York, NY; Palo Alto, CA; Portland, OR; Pittsburgh, PA; Raleigh, NC; Durham, NC; Reston, VA; Redmond, WA; Redwood City, CA; San Diego, CA; Goleta, CA; San Bruno, CA; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; San Jose, CA; Santa Cruz, CA; Sunnyvale, CA; Washington D.C.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a clear research agenda.
  • Collaborate with team members, managers, and partner groups to deliver results.
  • Design experiments, prototypes, and system architectures;
  • Contribute to advancing research in AI, machine perception, networking, storage, quantum information science, and related areas.
  • Share outcomes through publications and open-source contributions where applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Linguistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field;
  • Experience in at least one area of computer science, such as machine learning, natural language understanding, deep learning, optimization, quantum information science, or data science.

Preferred:

  • In the penultimate academic year or returning to a degree program after the internship.
  • Available to work full-time for 12 weeks in the US outside of university term time.
  • Prior research experience (internships, labs, publications).
  • Contributions to research communities, including published work in top journals or conferences.
  • Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, etc.).

Compensation and Benefits:

  • US base salary range: $113,000–$150,000 (pro-rated for internship duration).
  • Additional benefits include professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
  • Compensation does not include bonus, equity, or other benefits.
