Job Description

Job Title: Senior Research Scientist, Quantum AI, Practical Techniques. Locations: Goleta, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Mountain View, CA; San Francisco, CA, USA

As a Senior Research Scientist, you will develop and test practical methods that improve quantum computations on noisy processors and future Quantum Error Correction (QEC) systems; You will work at the intersection of theory and experiment to create algorithms and techniques that accelerate quantum performance and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and design methods for high-accuracy quantum computation on noisy systems, focusing on error mitigation, suppression, and advanced quantum protocols.
  • Develop theory, run numerical modeling and simulations, and collaborate closely with experimental teams.
  • Validate research results by applying them to real-world practical scenarios;
  • Collaborate across theoretical and experimental teams to transfer knowledge and support technology development.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at leading conferences, and contribute to patents.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Quantum Information Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • At least 2 years of experience in Quantum Computing, Chemistry, Computational Physics, Mathematical Modeling, or Applied Mathematics.
  • Hands-on experience with noisy quantum systems, including noise modeling and error mitigation/suppression;
  • Experience with experimental operation of quantum systems.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading or contributing to projects within large-scale industry or scientific collaborations.
  • Knowledge of quantum protocols, system characterization methods, and advanced error suppression techniques.
  • Strong publication record in Quantum Computing research;

Compensation and Benefits:

  • US base salary range: $166,000 – $244,000 (based on role, location, and experience).
  • Additional compensation includes bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
