Job Description

Job Title: Student Researcher, PhD, Fall 2025. Location: Multiple U.S. locations including Mountain View (CA), Ann Arbor (MI), Austin (TX), New York (NY), Seattle (WA), and others

This program allows flexibility in project duration, start dates, and onsite or remote participation depending on the project and host team; Students can join research teams across Google, including Google Research, Google DeepMind, and Google Cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on real-world, large-scale computing and optimization challenges.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design, test, and publish new methods and algorithms.
  • Support the development of technologies in areas like machine learning, AI, and quantum computing;
  • Participate in scientific collaboration, potentially contributing to research papers and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field;
  • Hands-on experience in at least one field of computer science such as Quantum Information Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, or Data Science.

Preferred:

  • Enrolled in a full-time PhD program and planning to return to studies after completing the internship.
  • Research experience through internships, academic labs, or previous projects;
  • Experience publishing in research journals or conferences;
  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C/C++.
  • Excellent English communication skills for global collaboration.
