Job Description

Job Title: Research Scientist, Quantum Error Correction, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA; Los Angeles, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Develop quantum error correction (QEC) schemes for fault-tolerant quantum computing, focusing on superconducting qubits and high-connectivity platforms.
  • Design and analyze QEC for modular architectures, addressing slower or faulty entangling links between chips.
  • Develop fault-tolerant circuits for logical gates while balancing hardware connectivity trade-offs.
  • Engineer higher-accuracy decoding algorithms for high-connectivity codes, including Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes.
  • Simulate quantum codes under noise models and evaluate performance;
  • Analyze fault-tolerant circuits for syndrome measurement and logical operations.
  • Contribute to the research community through publications and collaboration with partner universities and technical institutes.
  • Adapt error correction circuits to hardware constraints and optimize layout for practical implementation.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Quantum Computing, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Research publication experience in quantum error correction;
  • Strong analytical, simulation, and coding skills (Python or other relevant languages).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary research teams.

Preferred:

  • At least 1 year of experience initiating and leading research agendas.
  • Experience with superconducting qubit platforms and modular quantum architectures.
  • Familiarity with LDPC codes and advanced quantum error correction schemes.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base salary: $147,000–$211,000 per year, depending on role, level, and location.
  • Additional compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits.
