Scientist, Superconducting Qubits

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Research Scientist, Superconducting Qubits. Location: Los Angeles, California, USA

This role focuses on software solutions that enhance calibration, control, and optimization of high-fidelity qubit gates; The position involves both hands-on experimentation and software development, helping bridge quantum physics and scalable computing solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct cryogenic measurements and detailed characterization of superconducting qubits.
  • Design, implement, and test advanced control protocols for optimizing two-qubit gates;
  • Develop scalable methods for processor-wide optimization, including cross-talk and leakage reduction.
  • Collaborate with research, product, and engineering teams to convert research insights into deployable software.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field (PhD preferred).
  • At least 2 years of experience in quantum hardware research or similar roles;
  • Demonstrated experience in tuning and characterizing superconducting qubits.
  • Strong knowledge of numerical methods, optimization algorithms, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in software development using Python, C++, or Rust.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team;
  • Self-motivated and passionate about developing useful quantum technologies.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $140,000 to $192,000, depending on experience, skills, and location.
