Job Description
Job Title: Senior Quantum Engineer, Processor Design. Location: New Haven, CT, USA
Responsibilities:
- Drive the design and analysis of dual-rail quantum processors, including qubits, couplers, readout systems, quantum-limited amplifiers, and related circuit elements.
- Apply quantum device physics and circuit theory to improve performance, robustness, and scalability of quantum hardware.
- Support RF and microwave engineering efforts related to control, readout, and system integration.
- Work on exploratory and forward-looking projects to enable future processor generations;
- Collaborate with fabrication, mechanical, and device assembly teams to ensure designs align with manufacturing capabilities and constraints.
- Partner with measurement and characterization teams to define experimental protocols and evaluation metrics.
- Develop and improve internal tools and workflows for circuit design, simulation, and analysis.
- Produce clear and detailed technical documentation to support decision-making.
Qualifications:
- PhD with Postdoctoral experience, or equivalent experience; alternatively, a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Background in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with superconducting quantum devices.
- Strong foundation in device physics, circuit modeling, and RF/microwave engineering;
- Expertise in electromagnetic simulation tools, circuit simulators, and layout tools.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams across theory, design, fabrication, and testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience working on scalable quantum processor architectures.
- Familiarity with advanced quantum device design and experimental evaluation workflows.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Salary range: $111,000 – $167,000 per year (based on location and experience).
