Machinist, Quantum Computing

Job Description

Job Title: Machinist, Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, CA, USA

Job Type: Entry Level, Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC machining centers (3-axis and 5-axis) to support parts production for quantum hardware.
  • Work with support machinery including 3D printers, laser engravers, manual lathes, mills, and grinders.
  • Collaborate with shop programmers on machining and production processes.
  • Assist in CAM programming, fixture creation, setup, and tool selection;
  • Coordinate with external vendors for remote services and support.
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of equipment and lab environments.
  • Complete work orders, document maintenance results, and update technical drawings and records.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits and implement corrective actions.
  • Follow established procedures and documentation standards, and create new documentation when required.
  • Support cryogenic hardware manufacturing and assembly efforts;
  • Perform additional duties to support team and operational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or certification in Precision Manufacturing or equivalent.
  • Experience in technical support, engineering, or operations environments.
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery operation;
  • Experience with machine shop measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks including standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Knowledge of Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) or Brother CNC machines.
  • Experience with manual machining techniques.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Salary range: $122,600 – $160,000 per year.
  • Compensation package may include sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs).
