Staff Data Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Staff Data Engineer. Location: Bothell, Washington, United States (Hybrid/Remote options available)

Responsibilities:

• Design, architect, develop, test, deploy, and maintain data pipelines and warehousing systems.
• Ensure the quality of systems through rigorous design and code reviews.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including experimental and theoretical physics teams.
• Identify and drive opportunities to improve processes and systems.
• Approach complex problems pragmatically and creatively.
• Mentor and assist in the career development of team members on advanced technical issues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field (non-traditional backgrounds welcome).
• 5+ years of experience in software development with Python.
• 5+ years of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases;
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams in an interdisciplinary environment;
• Experience designing data models and warehouses, as well as maintaining ETLs on structured and unstructured data sources.
• Proficiency with Unix/Linux systems;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related scientific field.
• Significant experience with technologies such as Kubernetes, Postgres, Airflow, and more;
• Experience with Data Governance, deep learning platforms like Keras, TensorFlow, and/or PyTorch.
