System Calibration Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: System Calibration Engineer. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States

As a System Calibration Engineer, you will help ensure that prototype modules are producing single photons and entangled states needed for quantum computation; This involves regular calibration, analysis, and implementation within control software.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and implement calibration routines that support quantum system operations.
• Define hardware and firmware needs based on calibration requirements.
• Build timing models and integrate them into system-level timing budgets;
• Work with software engineers to embed calibration logic into control systems.
• Gather and manage calibration data across engineering teams;
• Partner with validation teams to test and mature new calibration methods.
• Integrate sub-system tests and quantum self-checks into routine calibrations.

Qualifications:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in systems that involve optical and electronic integration.
• Knowledge of one or more of the following:
  • Active photonics, RF electronics, optics, lasers
  • Embedded systems, firmware, RTL, signal processing
  • Quantum computation and control software
• Proficiency in Python or similar scripting tools for experimental data control.
• Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams;
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and leadership teams;
• Passion for quantum computing and alignment with PsiQuantum's fast-paced, collaborative environment.
