Research Scientist, Supercomputing

Job Description

Job Title: Principal Applied Research Scientist, Quantum Supercomputing. Location: United States, California (Remote)

We are seeking an experienced Principal Applied Research Scientist to lead cutting-edge quantum supercomputing initiatives in collaboration with strategic industry partners.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage technical collaborations with Strategic Collaboration Centers (SCCs) to develop hybrid quantum-classical applications across multiple industry sectors.
• Oversee the execution of project deliverables for SCC partnerships, ensuring alignment with NVIDIA’s strategic goals and customer success.
• Publish research findings in leading conferences and journals, and present at technical and industry events.
• Represent NVIDIA in technical consortia and committees related to quantum computing;
• Contribute to NVIDIA’s growth through innovative solutions that drive customer adoption and strengthen long-term partnerships.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of experience in applied quantum computing and scientific computing research.
• Proven leadership in technical partnerships with SCCs;
• Strong programming skills in Python, C++, and parallel programming models such as CUDA.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences;
• Established record of research excellence demonstrated by publications in leading journals and conferences.

Qualifications:

• Recognized expertise in quantum applied research combined with high-performance computing.
• Experience with NVIDIA’s Quantum platform (cuQuantum or CUDA Quantum).

Compensation and Benefits:

• Base salary range: $232,000 – $368,000 USD, based on experience, location, and internal pay equity.
