Job Title: Assembly, Integration, & Testing Engineer – Quantum Computing, Cryogenic Hardware Integration. Location: Pasadena, California, USA
The role involves assembling, testing, and maintaining complex cryogenic, electrical, and mechanical systems that support quantum processor development; The position is ideal for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment & have hands-on experience in precision hardware systems.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble, integrate, and test cryogenic and RF/microwave hardware for quantum processors.
- Operate and maintain dilution refrigerators and cryogenic test setups;
- Perform precision electro-mechanical assembly and ensure adherence to mechanical tolerances.
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware and cable assemblies as needed.
- Maintain R&D laboratory facilities and equipment in an organized manner.
- Coordinate reconfiguration, documentation, and scheduling with internal teams;
- Collaborate with Cryogenic Hardware and Test & Measurement teams on weekly testing cycles.
- Create and update technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Uphold workplace safety standards and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in mechanical or technical engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or maintenance of complex scientific instruments.
- Understanding of engineering principles, data analysis, and problem-solving;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with electro-mechanical assembly, including precision cleaning, torqueing, and cable management.
- Knowledge of cryogenic systems, such as dilution refrigerators;
- Hands-on experience with microwave or low-frequency wiring harnesses.
- Ability to assemble and maintain PCB electronics and cable assemblies.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor;
- Experience using MS Project for task and schedule management.
- Basic machining or fabrication skills.
