Job Description
Job Title: Senior Equipment Maintenance Technician (Morning Shift). Location: Fremont, California, USA
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing semiconductor fabrication equipment used to produce wafers for quantum computing; The work is hands-on and performed in an R&D cleanroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wafer fabrication equipment, including:
- Vacuum and process tools such as PVD, ALD, evaporation and deposition systems, and plasma or dry etch tools
- Wet processing systems including wet etch tools, solvent benches, wet benches, and chemical handling systems
- Auxiliary tools such as lithography equipment, metrology tools including SEM, wafer and wire bonding tools, and electrical test systems
- Troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and safely to restore production readiness;
- Maintain accurate documentation for tools, specifications, calibrations, SOPs, and PM procedures
- Support general fabrication operations, including chemical waste handling, consumable restocking, and gowning supply management
- Assist engineers with metrology tasks and data collection during tool issues or excursions;
- Follow all EHS requirements, including cleanroom behavior, lockout and tagout, hazmat handling, and chemical safety
- Participate in safety programs and incident response activities;
- Serve on the site Emergency Response Team and respond to incidents as required, including off-hours when needed
Qualifications:
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience maintaining semiconductor or MEMS fabrication equipment, with strong experience in vacuum-based tools
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and gas or liquid piping diagrams
- Proven experience performing equipment repairs, upgrades, and hardware modifications;
- Comfortable working in a cleanroom and following strict chemical and safety procedures
- Strong communication skills with high attention to detail and accurate documentation practices
Preferred:
- Technical education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree, vocational training, or military technical background
- Experience across multiple fabrication areas including dry etch, wet etch, vacuum deposition, lithography, metrology, or bonding
- Background in both R&D and production environments;
- Ability to work effectively in a small team or startup setting
- Experience with manual wafer handling
Shift and Compensation:
- Shift: Morning shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
- Training: Initial training follows the morning shift schedule
- Overtime: May be required based on business needs;
- Pay Range: $50 to $60 per hour, based on experience, skills, and location
