Job Title: 2026 Fall Quantum Applied Science Internship, Center for Quantum Computing. Location: Santa Clara, CA, USA / Pasadena, CA, USA
Job Type: Internship (Hybrid)
Responsibilities:
- Work with theoretical and experimental physicists, materials scientists, and engineers to develop scalable quantum computing solutions.
- Contribute to advancing state-of-the-art research in quantum computing systems.
- Develop and implement novel applied science and quantum research solutions;
- Work on challenging research problems involving superconducting qubits, quantum optics, superconductivity, microwave engineering, and quantum error correction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced research environment.
- Support highly targeted customer use-cases and contribute to future quantum technologies and products.
- Stay informed about new developments and emerging research in quantum computation.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be enrolled in a PhD program.
- Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week for up to a 12-week internship.
- Ability to relocate to the internship location if required;
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and evolving environments.
Preferred:
- Publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or R;
- Familiarity with one or more of the following areas:
- Superconducting qubits
- Cavity/circuit QED
- Quantum fabrication
- Quantum optics
- Open quantum systems
- Superconductivity
- Electromagnetic simulations of superconducting circuits
- Microwave engineering
- Benchmarking
- Quantum error correction
- Strong interest in keeping up with advances in quantum computing research.
Benefits and Compensation:

- Pasadena, CA: $142,800 – $193,200 annually
- Santa Clara, CA: $142,800 – $222,200 annually
- Compensation package may include sign-on bonuses and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
