Hardware Developer Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Entry Level Hardware Developer Engineer. Location: Tucson, Arizona - San Jose, California - Houston, Texas

This role gives you the chance to work on hardware that supports the quantum and AI era; You will join a team that builds and improves the systems used in IBM zSystems, IBM Power Systems, IBM Storage, and IBM Quantum Systems; You will help design, test, and support hardware, firmware, and semiconductor components.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on logic design, verification, physical design, and analog or IO design.
  • Use electronic design automation tools for development and testing.
  • Support signal integrity, power integrity, and performance analysis.
  • Contribute to microelectronics packaging work.
  • Support materials analysis and characterization tasks.
  • Assist with mechanical design, modeling, and technology integration.
  • Help with circuit and electrical design activities;
  • Take part in thermal design, testing, and performance checks.
  • Support voltage regulation and power delivery work.
  • Contribute to processor, component, and system-level characterization.
  • Work with customer and field engineering teams on technical issues;
  • Assist with firmware architecture, development, and failure analysis.
  • Help with quality, assurance, specifications, and analytics work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, physics, optics engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field;
  • Prior project or internship experience in computer hardware or testing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Interest in engineering and technology.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a team.

Preferred:

  • At least three months of experience in designing or manufacturing hardware.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and architecture such as FPGAs, RISC-V, ARM, and MIPS.
  • Skills in programming languages such as C, C plus plus, C sharp, Python, or Java;
  • Familiarity with hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog.
  • Experience using simulation tools such as SPICE.
