Job Title: Quantum EDA Junior Developer. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States

IBM Research is hiring a Quantum EDA Junior Developer to join the quantum hardware design and simulation team at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY; The team builds quantum processor and processor-adjacent designs, ranging from early research concepts to production roadmap quantum processor units.

This role supports the internal electronic design automation ecosystem used to deliver IBM’s superconducting quantum processors.

Responsibilities:

• Build user friendly and reliable software tools used in quantum hardware design
• Maintain and improve existing internal EDA tools
• Develop new tools for quantum processor and testsite module design
• Design and implement user interfaces for internal engineering tools
• Verify tools using software development best practices;
• Provide active support and debugging for tool end users
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, operations teams, and cross functional technical teams

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong experience with Python
• High familiarity with Linux
• Solid software engineering fundamentals
• Experience using git;
• Good communication skills and ability to work across teams
• Strong initiative and sense of responsibility

Preferred:

• Circuit design knowledge
• Experience with Tcl
• Experience with C++
• Experience with Rust
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• UI design experience
• System administration experience
• Exposure to quantum computing hardware

Compensation:

• Projected salary range: 84,000 to 144,000 USD per year
• Compensation depends on skills, experience, and location
• Pay frequency and increments follow company policy and applicable laws
