Quantum Measurement Scientist

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Measurement Research Scientist. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States - Work Arrangement: Onsite
Travel: Up to 20 percent

The role focuses on designing and integrating microwave components used in superconducting qubit readout chains, including low noise and quantum limited amplifiers and isolators.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and improve superconducting qubit measurement systems
  • Design and integrate microwave components for readout chains
  • Operate and maintain cryogenic systems for experiments
  • Use advanced lab equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, data generators, power meters, and frequency synthesizers
  • Apply low noise measurement techniques to improve system performance;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research, fabrication, and product teams
  • Translate research findings into practical outcomes for development and production
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations
  • Work both independently and as part of a diverse team

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in physics, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong background in experimental physics
  • Experience operating cryogenic systems
  • Hands-on experience with advanced microwave and RF test equipment
  • Solid programming skills in Python and Jupyter notebooks;
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly in writing and presentations
  • Ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams

Preferred:

  • Doctorate degree in a relevant field
  • Experience with low noise measurement techniques
  • Familiarity with superconducting parametric amplifiers or related devices;
  • Experience with trilayer Josephson junction devices or complex superconducting architectures
  • Experience working in large research collaborations
