Job Description

Job Title: Senior Hardware Engineer, Integrated Circuit Design – Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Mountain View, CA; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities:

• Design and simulate quantum processor components including superconducting and analog circuits.
• Develop programmatic layout flows and integrate metadata for streamlined chip design and tapeout.
• Use tools such as HFSS, Sonnet, or Comsol to run finite element and electromagnetic simulations;
• Collaborate across hardware and software teams to enhance the design and layout integration pipeline;
• Interface with semiconductor foundries to ensure design compliance using custom process design kits (PDKs).
• Improve automation and infrastructure to optimize design workflows and reduce development time.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a physics research or lab environment using layout and design tools.
• Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages;
• Hands-on experience with CAD layout tools and electromagnetic simulation platforms.

Preferred:

• Master’s or PhD in a relevant technical discipline.
• 5+ years in a physics-based research and development setting;
• Experience with IC layout tools such as K-Layout and methodologies like Layout vs Layout and Layout vs Schematic;
• Familiarity with superconducting circuit architectures and IC fabrication techniques.
