Senior Scientist, Silicon Qubits

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Research Scientist, Silicon Qubits. Job Location: Los Angeles, USA

This role is ideal for professionals who want to shape the future of quantum computing by combining deep physics knowledge, experimental skills, and software engineering expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform cryogenic measurements and characterization of quantum dot-based qubits.
  • Design, implement, and test new control protocols for tuning and optimizing single and two-qubit gates;
  • Develop scalable optimization protocols for cross-talk mitigation, leakage reduction, and real-time retuning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in research, product, and engineering to translate insights into production-ready software.
  • Document, present, and explain research outcomes in a clear and accessible manner.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of relevant research experience.
  • Strong background in quantum dot characterization and tune-up methods;
  • Expertise in numerical modeling, statistical learning, and optimization algorithms.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, or Rust, with experience developing control software for qubit measurement and calibration.
  • Familiarity with quantum error correction concepts and control theory.

Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $140,000 – $192,000 USD (based on skills, experience, and location).
  • Eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, equity options, and additional compensation.
