Math Libraries Engineer – Quantum

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Math Libraries Engineer – Quantum Computing. Location: Santa Clara, CA or Remote (NY)

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop advanced mathematical libraries to accelerate quantum circuit simulators.
• Research and implement algorithms optimized for GPU and HPC environments.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams across Research, Developer Technology, and Product Management.
• Engage with external partners and researchers to tailor solutions to their quantum computing needs;
• Lead technical direction within the engineering team and mentor other developers;
• Analyze and optimize performance of GPU and CPU implementations for simulation workflows.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience developing software for quantum computing workflows such as simulators or compilers.
• Strong C++ and Python programming skills, with a solid foundation in software design and performance testing.
• Proficient in parallel programming (CUDA, OpenCL, OpenACC, multithreading, or MPI);
• Background in Quantum Circuit Simulation (Tensor Networks or State Vector methods);
• Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience in leading software development projects.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with quantum computing and deep learning frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, TNQVM, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Knowledge of numerical methods, Hamiltonian integrals, density functional theory, or coupled-cluster methods (CCSD).
• Understanding of machine learning/deep learning concepts;
• Experience working in agile and distributed team environments.
