Software Engineer, Quantum Control

Job Description

Role Title: Software Engineer, Quantum Control (Fire Opal). Location: Los Angeles, Hybrid

As a Software Engineer working on the Fire Opal team, you will help develop and integrate error suppression and control tools into Q-CTRL’s product suite; You will work closely with our engineering & research teams to create software that boosts quantum circuit performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop features and tools in the Q-CTRL application codebase.
  • Integrate Fire Opal into customers’ systems and workflows.
  • Implement new control and error mitigation methods in collaboration with research scientists.
  • Review code and mentor junior developers;
  • Build robust testing, benchmarking, and monitoring tools;
  • Take ownership of high-priority engineering tasks.
  • Handle other duties relevant to your skills and experience, or learn them with support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Physics, or another STEM field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a professional software engineering role;
  • 4+ years of programming in Python, Rust, C++, or a similar language.
  • Background in quantum computing, software architecture, or high-performance computing.

Preferred:

  • Graduate degree in a related field.
  • Experience in experimental physics or with superconducting quantum devices.
  • Experience working in fast-paced R&D teams.

Compensation:

  • Salary range: $100,000 to $170,000 depending on experience and location.
  • May include equity, bonuses, and additional benefits;
