Software Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Software Infrastructure & Platform Engineer. Locations: Ontario, Canada; Palo Alto, California, United States

PsiQuantum is seeking a Platform Engineer with strong experience in AWS infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD pipeline automation; This role involves both engineering and operations, with an emphasis on scalability, security, and performance.

You will:

  • Design and manage AWS infrastructure using tools like Terraform, AWS CDK, and Pulumi
  • Build CI/CD pipelines and implement continuous security and compliance;
  • Collaborate with QA and development teams to maintain system reliability;
  • Set up observability systems using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana
  • Apply public-sector-grade security and compliance standards
  • Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and recovery plans

Responsibilities:

  • IaC Foundations: Build modular Terraform/Pulumi code to provision services including EKS, RDS, and VPC across multiple AWS accounts and environments
  • CI/CD Automation: Manage GitLab CI workflows, integrate IAM and KMS security layers, and improve deployment workflows
  • System Reliability: Work with QA to test infrastructure, debug failures, and ensure health before and after deployment
  • Observability: Implement monitoring and logging systems to identify issues early and meet uptime goals
  • Security Practices: Use IAM, Okta, and public sector requirements to create secure environments
  • Documentation: Write runbooks for incident response, disaster recovery, and scaling procedures

Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure design
  • Expertise in Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD tools, particularly GitLab CI;
  • Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch);
  • Knowledge of secure infrastructure principles including IAM and compliance standards
  • Familiarity with Python and software automation best practices
