Microwave Cryogenics Test Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Microwave and Cryogenics Test Engineer. Location: Fremont, California | On-site | Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Assemble, test, and install complex electro-mechanical, RF, vacuum, and cryogenic systems.
• Debug and validate advanced RF components using instruments like network analyzers, multimeters, and custom tools.
• Maintain and service cryogenic systems including helium leak testing, pump rebuilds, and thermal management.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop and execute RF hardware test plans;
• Support on-call cryogenic system maintenance rotation;
• Handle quantum chip assemblies for test preparation and packaging.
• Read and interpret CAD designs and engineering specifications;
• Maintain lab equipment and update operating procedures as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in RF Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent practical/military experience.
• 5+ years hands-on experience in a high-tech R&D environment.
• Strong familiarity with test methods (Six Sigma, DOE) and statistical analysis.
• Skilled with test equipment including oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and DC supplies.
• Proven ability in handling large-scale or complex scientific instruments;
• Experience with cryogenic systems (especially dilution refrigerators) is highly preferred;
• Programming experience in Python or scripting languages is a significant plus;
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and vendor communication skills.
