Process Engineer, e-Test and Metrology

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Process Engineer, e-Test and Metrology. Location: Fremont, CA

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will work in Fab-1, Rigetti’s state-of-the-art fabrication facility, where superconducting quantum integrated circuits are designed and tested; You will develop and sustain wafer and die electrical probing processes, manage metrology operations, and contribute to building Rigetti’s foundry as a leader in quantum device manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Sustain and optimize wafer probe equipment to test superconducting quantum circuits.
  • Develop and implement new test programs and functions in production.
  • Troubleshoot probe equipment and test procedures, including electrostatic damage (ESD) issues.
  • Apply expertise in low-level measurement, probe cards, and related applications;
  • Support test development activities for next-generation architectures and processes.
  • Establish process metrology, key metrics, and statistical process controls.
  • Create specifications, process documentation, and work instructions for production.
  • Guide technicians and operators in process operation and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor failure Pareto from production and recommend improvements;
  • Organize failure data, analyze process interactions, and present findings.
  • Define requirements, acquire, install, and qualify new equipment.
  • Serve as a key contributor to the growth of Rigetti’s fabrication facility.

Qualifications:

  • MS with 7+ years or PhD with 3+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor/MEMS e-test, wafer probers, package probers, or metrology tools.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes and electrical measurement instrumentation.
  • Experience with superconducting materials is a plus;
  • Skilled in SPC, DOE, GR&R, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Comfortable working in a cleanroom fab environment with HAZMAT and ESD practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Familiarity with MS Office, JMP, Google Docs, and Python scripting for data analysis.
