Hardware Engineer, Superconducting

Job Description

Job Title: Hardware Engineer, Quantum Superconducting Digital Electronics. Location: Goleta, California, USA

Your work will support the development of large scale, error corrected quantum computers.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with design, fabrication, and measurement teams to validate integrated quantum processors.
  • Design and simulate superconductor digital logic circuits, including SFQ and AQFP logic, for qubit control and readout;
  • Solve integration challenges related to multi layer cell design, full chip clock synchronization, signal integrity, and flux trapping.
  • Develop digital logic systems that enable multiplexed qubit control and readout;
  • Use advanced IC design tools, circuit simulation, and electromagnetic modeling to improve performance, signal quality, and thermal management.
  • Support fabrication teams by helping define IC design standards suitable for superconducting qubits and cryogenic electronics;
  • Contribute to the creation of modular chip stacks that combine qubits and control electronics in cryogenic conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • One year of experience in digital circuit design;
  • One year of experience working with at least one superconductor logic family such as RSFQ, ERSFQ, RQL, HFQ, or AQFP.

Preferred:

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience designing and simulating superconductor digital logic circuits.
  • Experience working with superconducting qubits;
  • Experience with full digital design flow, including RTL, synthesis, verification, timing closure, place and route, and post fabrication validation.
  • Experience with low temperature measurements of superconductor digital circuits.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and electromagnetic simulation tools.

Additional Information:

The salary range for this full time role in the United States is one hundred twenty six thousand dollars to one hundred eighty one thousand dollars; Bonuses, equity, and benefits are provided in addition to base pay; Final compensation depends on location, experience, and skills.
